Mule deer are another species that populates South Dakota. Though not as common, there is still a thriving population roaming the prarie. Mule deer, unique with their large, furry ears; grey coat;and full white rear seem to be declining in numbers. The resiliant White Tail deer give them much competition and hybrids seem to favor the White Tails. For this reason, hunting of Mule deer is much less popular but still legal in the state of South Dakota. C Heart Ranch is proud to house the dwendling breed.
